DMG Delta's summer Olympic spectacular
Sadly the likes of Jessica Ennis, Bradley Wiggins and Rebecca Adlington were busy elsewhere but our clients, office staff, engineers and their families all had a fabulous afternoon and managed some equally note-worthy performances of their own (and we even had a real Olympic torch to spur us on..). And while we didn’t have an Olympic stadium or Aquatics centre to hand, the beautiful landscaped gardens at our offices in Stansted proved the perfect location.
And so it was that 60 or so of us gathered in beautiful warm August weather for a series of events arranged by Partyman. Not quite the traditional heptathlon perhaps, but we were put through our paces with an egg and spoon race, a sack race, a relay, a tug of war and some super-cool (and very retro) space hoppers.
As you know we like to do things properly at DMG Delta so you won’t be surprised that we even had a podium so our winners’ success could be properly recognised and rewarded. And one person who received a special award was DMG employee Daniel Driscroll (amazingly he’s the third generation of his family to work for the company!). He was given a new set of tools to mark his first year with us.
We’re all one big team here at DMG Delta – or we were until the moment arrived for the engineers vs office staff tug of war. The engineers thought they would have it in the bag but the office staff pulled (!) off what was perhaps the upset of the day to take the prize. Well done everyone!
As finely-tuned athletes we like to pay careful attention to what we eat – and so heartily tucked into a great range of barbecue food, DMG branded Cupcakes, ice cream from the ice cream van and candy floss. We were nothing if not sugar-powered!
Ok so I admit it we may not win on our Olympic sporting performances, but if medals were being handed out for taking part and having a good time ours would definitely have been a gold. So who needs Team GB when you can have Team DMG?
