About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organised, detail-focused Technical Estimator to join our Technical Support team. This is a key role within the business, supporting the pricing, planning, and delivery of reactive maintenance works and light commercial jobs across multiple trades.

You will be responsible for producing accurate and timely quotations based on engineer’s surveys, client requests, and project information, while working closely with operations, suppliers, subcontractors, and our sister company within the Group. The role requires someone confident in managing multiple workstreams, working to deadlines, and maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

This position would suit someone with experience in maintenance or facilities management who enjoys being central to the flow of works from initial enquiry through to approval and delivery, and who is looking for a stable, office-based role with progression potential.

Responsibilities 

  • Preparing accurate and timely quotations for reactive maintenance jobs and small works

  • Reviewing engineer reports, photographs, and job information to build clear scopes of work

  • Sourcing materials and obtaining supplier and subcontractor prices

  • Assisting with planning approved works and coordinating procurement

  • Supporting smooth handover of approved works to the operations team

  • Liaising with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams

  • Responding to quote queries, revisions, and variations

  • Maintaining accurate records, spreadsheets, and internal systems

    • Salary: £48,000 – £52,000 a year
    • Hours: 8am – 5pm
    • Job Type: Full time, Permanent
    • Location: Bishop’s Stortford
    • Out of hours call handling: On a rota basis (currently 1 week in 4)
    • Reporting to: Senior Technical Manager

    About You: 

    We’re looking for someone who has:

    • Level 3 (minimum) trade qualification: 1 year (required)
    • IOSH: 1 year (preferred)
    • Building services estimating or contracts management: 1 year (required)

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Proven experience in estimating within relevant industry sectors
    • Strong understanding of project costing, budgeting, and financial analysis
    • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Proficiency in estimating software programmes and MS Office suite, particularly Excel
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all calculations and documentation
    • Effective communication skills for liaising with suppliers, clients, and internal teams
    • Knowledge of cost control principles to optimise project budgets and minimise overruns
