We’re on the hunt for a proactive and hand-on Operations Supervisor to join our growing team.

  • Head Office: Bishops Stortford
  • Salary: £40,000 – £48,000 plus out-of-hours remuneration (possible £5k)
  • Hours: 8am to 5pm (40 per week)

Key Responsibilities, Overview and Expectations:

As Operations Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of our mobile engineering team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. You’ll act as the link between the engineers, clients, and the Operations Manager – providing technical guidance, overseeing quality control, and supporting smooth operational delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Supervise and support a team of 18 mobile engineers (increasing to 22 over the next 12 months), ensuring effective planning and resource allocation
    • Provide daily technical support and operational guidance to engineers and clients
    • Monitor work in progress (WIP), return visits, and ensure timely job completion
    • Conduct site audits and gather client feedback to drive service improvement
    • Prepare and maintain Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS
    • Review engineer reports for accuracy and provide coaching where needed
    • Conduct appraisals and 1:1 meetings, working closely with HR and the Operations Manager
    • Promote a “Fix It First Time” culture and continuous improvement ethos
    • Join the out of hours on call manager rota
    • Cover for Operations Manager when required

    About You:

    You’ll be an experienced maintenance professional with proven leadership ability and a passion for delivering high-quality service.

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Level 3 (minimum) trade qualification in a mobile engineering or building services discipline
    • Hands-on experience supervising multi-skilled maintenance engineers
    • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
    • Strong IT literacy (Microsoft Office, maintenance software)
    • Customer-focused with a commitment to quality and safety
    • Previous office experience working for service provider in customer facing role
    • Previous experience within building services company, busy reactive service desk and coordinating an engineering workforce.
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Problem solving and decision making skills
    • Ability to multitask in high pressured environment
    • Excellent organisational skills, Good general IT skills (Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook)
    • Excellent numeracy/literacy skills
    • Knowledge of service IT software systems

    Desirable Skills:

    • IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
    • Multi-skilled background (mechanical/electrical)
    • Experience within a mobile or field-based engineering environment
